shines & jecker labs is a web development company in Portland, Maine. We specialize in producing highly customized WordPress sites, plugins, and themes. We are currently seeking a responsible developer to join us on a part-time basis (15-25 hrs/week). You’ll primarily be producing plugins and integrations for WordPress sites (PHP and JavaScript primarily), including building them from scratch with our team, providing new functionality, and fixing bugs for existing sites. Though you’ll be working with WordPress, we’ll work with you to level up your WordPress skills if you have other programming experience. If you’re a good fit for the way we work with one another and with clients, the position would grow into full time.

You should have a handle on:

  • Solid PHP
  • Basic+ Javascript
  • Basic+ MySQL
  • Working knowledge of version control (Git)
  • Good communication skills
  • Invested in growing your skills and understanding of new methods

You’ll ideally have a conceptual understanding of:

  • REST
  • CSS and Sass
  • Task runners and/or preprocessors
  • WordPress
  • Usability and coding for context of use
  • Rapid iterative design and pair programming
